projects at the center (based on the length of the volunteers stay and coordination with the staff).

Arts and Culture

Art School: This organization is a NYC-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates, develops and
supports innovative arts-related projects.  Its first endeavor was an art school, founded in February of
2003 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The school provides scholarships for professional-level fine arts
instruction to talented students of all socio-economic backgrounds between the ages of twelve and
eighteen. The organization believes that art education plays an important and transformative role in
young people’s lives, allowing them to convert their everyday reality into works of significant social and
4artistic value.  The art school is a unique opportunity for talented, aspiring artists too young to qualify for
university programs.  Furthermore, given that artistic capacity flourishes without regard to socio-economic
standing, the school is unique because it gives economically disadvantaged youths an opportunity they
couldn’t otherwise afford.
Volunteer tasks: Qualified volunteers could participate in a number of programs that the organization is
developing, such as fundraising, translations, communication and project coordination.

Arts and Photography: To give low income kids the opportunity of expressing their feelings and providing a
space of creativity and expression. This organization has photography workshops for excluded teenagers,
giving them a camera to work with and arranging exhibits and sales of their work.Volunteer tasks:
volunteers are needed to help with fundraising strategies, translations, grant research, and if the volunteer is
qualified they can also carry out photography workshops.

Art workshops at a Community Center: This organization seeks to promote and strengthen the community
development of the girls, boys, adolescents, youth, and families of the Villa Lugano and Mataderos
neighborhoods. They are committed to creating spaces for recreation, occupational training, and
educational, cultural and community activities. Volunteer tasks: Volunteers are needed to carry out and
plan art workshops and other cultural activities with the kids from the community, besides the teaching
